Places to visit in the Recreation area

Noronqui Islands. Peņero

Less than thirty minutes from Gran Roque, these islands are made up of three keys and its greatest feature is its lonely beaches and a central reef lagoon. These keys are the least visited within the recreation area.

For those who forgot their umbrellas there is a small thatched structure in lower Noronqui.

"It has the finest whitest sand that I have only touched in similarity to that of the Nile, but the color is much more intense".  HB

For lovers of the History channel there is a war ship grounded some fifteen years ago. Apparently its engine broke down and the bad weather threw it against the coast. One can still see its towers with its machine guns.

There is an excellent snorkeling area where you can find Lobster and it is also good for beginner scuba diving.

Francisqui Islands Los RoquesThe ride form mid Francisqui beach until La Piscina is a good opportunity to enjoy the internal landscape of the keys, where patches of red and black mangrove are outstanding including the fields of prairie alike vegetation with its inside lagoons. Some of these lagoons are about to dry up but before its very salty waters are dyed red with the hues of algae which can grow in this environment. Those who like geology can see in this key one of the most developed storm terraces of the archipelago which reaches a height of almost four meters.
